Capiz shell fish trinket dish. Capiz is the inside lining of an oyster that is abundant in the Philippine sand Southeast Asia, so much so that these shells were used as windows before glass became available. Hence, the nickname “windowpane oyster.”
Capiz shell is the traditional material used for the “parol,” a classic Christmastime decoration in the Philippines, a beautiful multi-dimensional star. All of the shells used for our products at Hara are byproducts of a food source.
